USPS Postmark Changes – Paying Property Taxes by Mail: ** PROPERTY TAXPAYERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE ** UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (USPS) POLICY CHANGE REGARDING POSTMARKS If you pay your property taxes by mail, please be aware of a recent U.S. Postal Service policy change that may affect when envelopes are postmarked. In August of this year, the US Post Office announced a new rule that most letters will no longer be postmarked on the day the letter is received by a post office but instead postmarked when the letter is processed at a regional mail processing facility, which can be 1–2 days later (longer on weekends or holidays). If you’re mailing your tax payment: Mail early. Sending payments well in advance of the deadline remains the most reliable method. *On-Line – We now accept ACH & credit card payments* https://ascent.co.walworth.wi.us/LandRecords  Utilize the drop box located on the side of the Town Hall Tax payments that are received late will be considered delinquent if postmarked after the due date. Forgot to Pay Taxes? Now What?

The deadline to pay your first installment of your taxes has passed. Tax payments must be postmarked no later than 1/31/2022 to be considered timely. If you forgot to pay or send in the first installment of your property taxes you are still required to pay them. The sooner you send them in and/or pay in person, the better, as there is a penalty and interest on all delinquent payments. Further, your payment can no longer be sent to the Town of Delavan.

All tax payments made after January 31, 2022 must be made to:

Walworth County Treasurer

PO Box 1001

Elkhorn, WI 53121

You may also pay in person at the Walworth County Treasurer’s office at 100 W. Walworth, Elkhorn, WI 53121.

Checks must be written out to the Walworth County Treasurer. Questions, please call the Walworth County Treasurer’s office at (262) 741-4251. Their office hours are 8am-5pm M-F.
