Journey Disaster Response Team (DRT)
Geneva Area Disaster Assistance Center (DAC)
Situation Report (SITREP) — July 13, 2026
Operational Hours
The Geneva Area Disaster Assistance Center (DAC), located at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 700 N. Bloomfield Rd., Lake Geneva, will operate Monday through Saturday from 0800 to 1700 hours.
Operational Update
- DRT is working through the verified 2-1-1 homeowner aid list. About 70 households are on the priority list. DRT staff are contacting residents, confirming current needs, and coordinating volunteers and resources.
- Damage assessments in the Como area are about 95% complete.
- Assessments have begun in the southwest Delavan Lake/Town of Delavan area and will continue throughout the week.
- Over the weekend, volunteer teams completed several debris removal operations, mainly in the Lake Geneva and Como areas. Volunteers included members of the Disaster Response Team, many individuals from throughout Walworth County and the local community, and a strong Team Rubicon contingent that assisted . We appreciate everyone who contributed time and effort to support recovery.
- Crews will continue working through remaining requests as volunteers and equipment become available.
Volunteer and Equipment Needs
Weekday volunteer availability is still our greatest challenge. We are asking partners, including the Town of Delavan Emergency Management, to help find:
- Individual volunteers
- Church groups
- Civic organizations
- Community groups willing to help neighbors recover
Volunteer groups that are available and willing to serve are encouraged to contact the DAC so they can be deployed where needed most.
A skid steer with a grapple attachment is still one of our highest equipment needs and would significantly improve efficiency. We have the remaining equipment needed to complete the work.
Disaster Assistance Center
On Wednesday, operations at Immanuel Lutheran Church will be temporarily downsized because of a previously scheduled community meal. The DAC will remain open during normal operating hours, but DRT staff and volunteers will work from a separate room within the facility that day.
Volunteer Identification
A daily message will identify the color of the volunteer wristband to be worn by all registered volunteers. For Monday, July 13, the wristband color will be purple. This helps DRT staff, partner agencies, and homeowners quickly identify volunteers registered through the DAC.
Leadership Update
Jim Coppleman will serve as Incident Lead for the DRT and DAC on Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14. Jim’s number is (262) 758-9677. Executive Director Jeff Berard is away for a previously planned family visit and will remain available by phone as needed, but will not be on site during those two days.
Looking Ahead
As verification of the remaining 2-1-1 requests continues, DRT will provide additional updates on verified needs and work assignments within each municipality later this week. This will help guide volunteer deployment and partner agency support as recovery operations continue.
